About

My name is Katherine Gammon and I am a 3rd year photography student at the Manchester School of Art (Manchester Met University). This is a website dedicated to my Final Major Project, here my work can be viewed and I will be keeping regular updates.

For this I am taking classic paintings and other art from the past and recreating them and re-imagining them for the 21st century. I am updating them to also make comments about the political and cultural environment we find ourselves at in 2017.

So far I have re-imagined works by Andy Warhol, Roy Liechtenstein, Francis Bacon, Hans Baldung Grien, Evelyn de Morgan and Viktor Korestsky.

The project will continue with the planned re-imagining of paintings by Boticelli, Whistler and Velasquez and several more still to be finalised. My work so far has been inevitably dominated by US politics and Donald Trump’s presidency, but I intend to expand the rest of the series to consider other significant issues.

Then project will culminate in the final piece being a life size recreation of Hans Holbein’s the Ambassadors, re-imagined for 2017.
